Day 04 - Anime You’re Ashamed You Enjoyed
Blassreiter
If you haven’t heard about this series, go look it up because there’s no possible way I can explain every plot point without my brain exploding.  Do yourself a favor and don’t watch it.  It may look nice but it makes no sense.
This anime is overly ambitious, starts off with a pretty simple premise until things take a serious turn at the half way point.  Turns out there’s an evil government experiment that caused everything, the experiment was sponsored by a super secret organization within the Catholic Church that dates back to the Templar Knights, there’s a mecha that serves no purpose, the villain is a Pale Rider that also rides on a white horse, and every character relating to the organization with the exception of the heroine are killed off at the end.  I am not kidding about any of those plot points.  The problem is none of these plot points make sense together since some of them seem to be in conflict with one another.  Its like they threw a bunch of ideas together and went with the ones the writing team liked the most.
This anime is a Nitro+ original story and if you’re seen any of their other game adaptations this will not surprise you.  Its a lot like their other works except it takes place in modern day Germany and the U.N. shows up for a bit to “help” a la the Federation in the Universal Century Gundam shows.
I watched this knowing it made no sense but I was way more entertained by this show than I should of been.  I laughed at most of the serious business plot points in the second half but the ending still horrified me.
So if any of this piques your interest, don’t watch the series.  Do yourself a favor and find a review or plot summary and read that instead.  It will save you a lot of time and pain.

I actually really enjoyed the series. The first couple of episodes made me wonder why I bought it but soon I found myself engrossed in it. I was sad at the end of the series and I wished there were more episodes :D
